The H2GEO project has entered its final phase of implementation. In December 2025, in line with the project plan, six Deliverables related to WP4 and WP5 were submitted, addressing the utilisation of selected coal-bearing and mineral fractions.
Deliverables 4.2 and 4.3 focused on hydrogen separation in the PSA process and the validation of a computational model for process scale-up and TEA/LCA analyses. Deliverables 5.1 and 5.2 addressed the optimisation of thermal treatment parameters for mineral waste used in geopolymer composites, while Deliverables 5.3 and 5.4 presented methods for producing construction materials, backfilling materials, and anthropogenic soils, including preliminary concepts for critical raw materials (CRM) recovery.
In addition, two project milestones were achieved: a 72-hour long-term gasification test of the coal-bearing fraction in a PDU-scale unit (Milestone No. 5) and the production of geopolymer concrete with a 7-day compressive strength of 23.85 MPa (Milestone No. 6).
